Southampton 'considering Jesse Marsch as their next manager'

Southampton are reportedly considering Jesse Marsch as their next manager, despite the American being dismissed by Leeds last week.

The Saints are currently without a boss following on Saturday afternoon, leaving them with just one league one in the past three months.

They’re now searching for a replacement, as their relegation worries continue to grow, and are reportedly interested in bringing Marsch to St Marys.

According to  Marsch has been on Saints’ radar for some time due to his experience working in the Red Bull system, which he has in common with Jones’ predecessor Ralph Hasenhuttl.

Despite keeping Leeds up last season, Marsch was relieved of his duties by the club on Monday after they had failed to win a league game since early November.

They sit a point above the relegation zone after , kaos Jogja but 18th-place Everton could overtake them with a win in their next game.

He may have struggled at Elland Road this season, but Marsch could be a good fit at Southampton given his record in 2021-22.

The 49-year-old joined Leeds in February as they faced a relegation battle following the departure of cult hero Marcelo Bielsa, and kept the side up on the last day of the season with a win over Brentford.

Marsch could face a similar task if he took the job at St Mary’s, as despite their league position Saints are still only four points from safety and have time to turn their season around.

Southampton will next be in action when they travel to Chelsea next Saturday.

Leeds, who are still without a permanent boss, face relegation rivals Everton in their next match on the same day,

If Marsch does join Saints, he could face his former side in his first game in charge when they play Leeds on February 25.
