Sarah Michelle Gellar says Dolly Parton a 'secret producer' on Buffy

confirmed the rumor that county music icon was a secret producer on her hit series Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

During an appearance on  to promote , the actress revealed to the host, “Little known fact. The legend, Dolly Parton was a producer,’ in reference to Buffy.

Gellar maintained Parton was an uncredited producer who was never really seen on the set during its seven season run between 1997 and 2003; first on The WB, and later on UPN.

Despite not establishing relationships ahead of the start of the show, Gellar told Fallon that the Jolene star went out of her way to make the cast feel special, which included giving her and others ‘Christmas gifts in the beginning that would have our name, and I would think, “She doesn’t even know who I am.”‘

Confirmed! Sarah Michelle Gellar confirmed legendary singer-songwriter Dolly Parton was a ‘secret producer’ on her hit series Buffy The Vampire Slayer (1997-2003)

Gellar went on to make the connection between Parton and the series by revealing that the I Will Always Love You singer-songwriter’s production company, Sandollar Productions, that she founded with pal Sandy Gallin had a stake in the franchise dating back to when it was first a 1992 movie of the same name.

The company also went on to help produce the BTVS spinoff, Angel. 

Gellar, who serves as both a star and executive producer on Wolf Pack, was also asked if she had any hesitation about jumping back into the supernatural genre in the wake of her high-profile role on Buffy.

After joking how there’s a difference between vampires and wolves, Gellar confessed that ‘there’s always hesitation because it’s hard to have something to compare it too. 

A few years have passed, 20,’ she said of BTVS to Fallon, ‘joking, ‘We don’t have to put a number on it because it’s been some time.’

She disclosed that Wolf Pack takes place during LA fires, before going into more detail, adding, ‘But on a deeper level it’s about anxiety. It’s about finding your pack and your people.’

The Cruel Intentions alum explained that it’s two teenagers ‘who get bit when all the animals come out during the fires’ and they ‘find two other teenagers who become werewolves.’

The Long Island native plays a detective tasked with investigating the emergence of the werewolves in her town, in a cast that also includes Chloe Rose Robertson, Bella Shepard, Armani Jackson, Tyler Lawrence Gray and Rodrigo Santoro, among others.

Created by Jeff Davis and based on a book of the same name by Canadian author Edo van Belkom, Wolf Pack premiered on Paramount+ on January 26.
