FELINE STOMATITIS/LPGS
Feline Stomatitis is called Lymphocyte Plasmacytic Gingivitis Stomatitis (LPGS). LPGS is a major condition of the dental cavity in certain cats. These cats create an allergic response to the plaque around their teeth. This result leads to major inflammation in the junction in which the tooth satisfies the gum line.
CAUSE
The particular cause is unknown. These cats are negative for Feline Leukemia and immunodeficiency Virus and The diet is not a factor. Calici Virus has been found but the significance of its isn’t known. Certain purebreds including Abyssinians, Burmese, Himalayans, Persians, Siamese and Somali are prone.
SYMPTOMS
* Halitosis.
* Difficulty chewing food that is hard (may only eat soft food).
