The Jaguar XK includes front-seat side airbags, whiplash-reducing front seats, traction control, antilock brakes

Ford cut its losses and sold Jaguar (and fellow British premium brand Land Rover) to Indian manufacturer Tata in 2008. Sales plummeted, and Jaguar’s financial problems caused further headaches for parent company Ford, that was also experiencing financial turmoil. Though reliability still remains a concern, new models like the XF and redesigned icons XK and XJ seem to point a brilliant Jaguar future, as they feature modern designs sprinkled with a great amount of classic Britannic charm.

Unfortunately, Jaguar’s trend towards lower-market plastics continues, increasing a general ambiance that doesn’t quite match the price tag. The 2023 Jaguar XK  interior is a remarkable departure from the traditional Jaguar look, with a modern dashboard design and the current presence of aluminum cladding as opposed to wood. This serves to bring the Jaguar to the 21st century, however many might argue that the jag-less Jag seems like a mustacheless Tom Selleck. By having an on-screen interface that was simple and intuitive in concept, but neither sensitive enough nor accurate found it frustrating in practice. Also, the multi-purpose touchscreen, which controls the audio, navigation, and ac systems, can perhaps work a bit.

With the utmost effective open, the XK Convertible can still hold 8 cubic feet. The trunk of the XK coupe can take about 11 cubic feet of cargo. On one other hand, while the two-position rear seat remains only suitable for small kids or emergency use, the Jaguar XK is much more adaptable compared to the older XK8. The convertible’s soft top does an excellent job of soundproofing when up, and it disappears under a blanket of hard tonneau in just 18 seconds at the push of a button.

A decade later, Jaguar XK 2023, introduced the XJ6C and XJ12C coupes to participate the sedans. The 1980s saw Jaguar continuing to raise the bar in performance with the launch of the XJ-S HE and a true-world supercar, the XJ220.

By now, however, Jaguar’s cars had also developed a reputation for questionable reliability, electrical problems being the principle supply of owners’ angst. Increased competition from German automakers and adverse exchange rates didn’t help matters either. By the mid-’70s the lovely E-Type was replaced by the relatively bland XJ-S. Without much capital to work well with to improve matters, the business decided to pursue a partnership with another company. At one point, the XJ12 was the fastest production sedan of its day. This decision ultimately generated a complete buyout of Jaguar by Ford in 1990.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels using a six-speed automatic transmission with manual shift control. Our test of an XKR Convertible revealed a period of 4.9 seconds at 0-60, and the coupe was a couple of clicks faster. During testing, we accelerated the coupe from zero to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds, whilst the convertible sprinted in 6.3 seconds. The XKR features an inflated supercharged version of exactly the same engine that produces 420 hp and 412 lb-ft of torque. The standard Jaguar XK is powered by a 4.2-liter V8 engine producing 300 hp and 310 pound-feet of torque.

The conventional XK’s stability control system has two stages, certainly one of gives the driver more responsibility for the car’s handling before the machine activates. The setup is comparable on the XKR, though its system gives the driver a lot more leeway and allows him to disable it completely if desired.
